It’s a fun, family-friendly affair on Friday’s at the Farriers Foodilicious brunch

If you’re wondering about how to best spend time with your family and head for the weekend binge whilst taking in marvellous views of the Dubai racecourse, then look no further than the fabulous brunch at Farriers, located in the Meydan Hotel. Surrounded with 360 views of the racecourse and a buffet spread that runs across two rooms, this makes for ideal relaxed, chilled out Friday.

We arrived in early and were promptly guided to our table by a lovely lady at the reception after a quick check on name and table booking. We had a minor mishap with our table, but it was sorted in no time and in the most gracious manner by the impeccably polite manager, who ensured we had only the best experience throughout our brunch affair. Overlooking the stunning sights of the royal racecourse accompanied by great entertainment from a live saxophonist who plays chart hits, we danced our way around the lavish buffet spread.

A quick tour around the spread- created-COVID friendly- and we had mentally, already made our top picks to try out. We then decided to begin our culinary affair with a mini platter of cheese and a pick of assorted salad bowls from the salad station that ticked all the boxes with their fresh vegetable produce and creatively combined dressings. We were very impressed with the high hygiene standards and the way each item was thoughtfully arranged, keeping in mind the current times. After that, we went for the shrimp cocktails and paired it with some freshly squeezed orange juice to go along. To complement our healthy spread with slightly unhealthy opts- we indulged in a bowl of prawn tempura and the pub staple, fish and chips.

The cold salads combined with crispy fried fish were an instant hit and we helped ourselves with quite a few servings of the same while the prawn tempura was slightly undercooked and didn’t quite make it to our hit-list.

For mains, our server recommended we try a platter of freshly grilled salmon and shrimps and we were sold on the idea of some juicy grills! These were complemented with a selection of Arabic kebabs and some leafy greens. For those with a larger appetite and a taste for exotic flavours – there is a variety to choose from – think butter chicken, miso noodles and a large bread spread to go along. It’s an all-around international affair. Our top pick would be the grilled shrimps, tossed in lemon-butter dressing and served with fresh cherry tomatoes and bell peppers to go along. The salmon was also grilled to perfection and was equal parts juicy and tasty. If we had not already indulged in our appetizers as much, we were definitely going to go for an extra serving of this!

Next up, the part we were most excited about since we first scanned through the spread – The desserts! Those with a sweet tooth are in for a treat as there are several options to pick from. Think classic cheesecakes and themed- cupcakes to gelatos. With a theme based around high-fashion brands such as Dolce&Gabbana, Gucci and Henri Bendel, each sweet was tailor-made for the gram! While we indulged on white chocolate mousse bowl, a classic chocolate cake and the eye-appealing shoe chocolate fruit bowl, we felt that only the white chocolate mousse matched its visual standards, the rest failed to impress our tastebuds as much as they did our Instagram feeds.

We ended our five-course Friday meal with a shot of espresso and some jasmine tea. We’ll warn you, it’s not a meal for the diet-conscious, but the variety makes it an all-inclusive brunch that’s got something for everyone. We’d still say, make it your cheat day and enjoy the complete brunch experience in the best way- slowly whilst fully binging. We’re surely coming back for those mouth-watering grilled prawns!
