Tashkeel, Dubai’s leading centre for art and design, is celebrating UAE-based artists who have returned after completing postgraduate degrees abroad in an exhibition that marks this important milestone.
Since its establishment in 2008, over 30 Tashkeel members as well as staff have travelled overseas to pursue postgraduate studies in art and design. Many return home to the UAE eager to use their advanced knowledge to contribute to the growth of the UAE cultural sector.
Reflecting its commitment to investing in artists and helping them to push the boundaries of their practice, Tashkeel’s ‘The Alumni Return’ gives audiences the chance to see work not previously shown here, which will, in years to come, be seen as pivotal moments in their careers. The exhibition runs until October 29 with an accompanying programme of free tours and talks as well as workshops led by the artists.
Participating artists are members, instructors and project partners of Tashkeel: Moza Al Matrooshi, Mohammed AlShaibani, Khalid Mezaina, Salama Nasib, Hadeyeh Badri and Saeed Al Madani, Azim Al Ghussein, and Fatima Uzdenova.
The Alumni Return runs until October 29 at Tashkeel, Nad Al Sheba 1, Dubai. The centre opens from 10am to 10pm every day except Friday, and admission is free of charge. Tours are available upon request. For further details, visit tashkeel.org, email tashkeel@tashkeel.org or call +971 4 336 3313.
