On the occasion of the Fourth Week of Italian Cuisine in the World Ambasciata d’Italia ad Abu Dhabi / Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi and Consolato Generale d'Italia Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Future Foundation and Seeds&Chips have organised a workshop the future of food and the impact of the sustainable development goals.

On the occasion of the Fourth Week of Italian Cuisine in the World Ambasciata d’Italia ad Abu Dhabi / Embassy of Italy in Abu Dhabi and Consolato Generale d’Italia Dubai in collaboration with Dubai Future Foundation and Seeds&Chips have organised a workshop the future of food and the impact of the sustainable development goals.


The workshop started with the opening remarks by the H.E. Nicola Lener, the ambassador of Italy to the UAE as well and H.E. Khalfan Belhoul, the CEO of the Dubai Future Foundation.


H.E. Mariam Almheiri, the Minister of state for food security talked about the National Food Security Strategy. The minister stressed that the human element is core to creating change, and finding innovative solutions for food production to ensure the nation’s food security standing will transform the UAE as a global hub for ag-tech deployment and a sustainable food economy industry.


Marco Gaultier presented Seeds & Chips and talked about sustainable development goals.
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a collection of 17 global goals designed to be a “blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. The SDGs, set in 2015 by the United Nations General Assembly and intended to be achieved by the year 2030.

Italian bioengineer Giuseppe Scionti, the CEO and Founder of NOVAMEAT presented his company that created the 3D printed meat-free steak which is eco-friendly, healthy and revolutionary.

Vegan ingredients such as rice, peas and seaweed, which provide the amino acids needed for a healthy diet, are turned into a food paste that is 3D-printed to form a raw, steak-like substance. Giuseppe insists that his creation is as tasty and us sustainable and Novameat is definitely the company we will keep an eye on in future.

After all the presentations and the panel talks, the guests got a chance to try some of the sustainable foods like Beyond Meat burgers and Calvisius caviar. Everyone enjoyed discussing the future of food, agriculture and sustainability and how both our personal efforts and choices as well the government programs could shape the future for all of us.
