Now extended through August 31, Un Bestiario in Bronzo – A Bestiary in Bronze is on-view at Accademia delle Arti del Disegno in Florence featuring artist Bjørn Okholm Skaarup. The exhibition space has become temporarily transformed, to use the titles dear to Skaarup, into a paradoxical bronze circus, or a “Carnival of The Animals.”

The Bally Foundation is pleased to announce the imminent opening of its new headquarters at Villa Heleneum in Lugano on 20 April. This opening marks the beginning of a new important phase in the foundation’s evolution. After 17 years, it will finally have a permanent home in an exceptional location on the shores of Lake Lugano. Since 2006, the foundation’s mission has been to promote art and culture by highlighting themes important to Bally, such as innovation, support for creativity, and environmental awareness.

Its building, designed by English architect Lord Norman Foster, makes a strong architectural statement. It presides over the heart of the city, on the site of the ancient Roman forum and temple, from which it derives its name, the Maison Carré “The Square House”.

Animals, with all its symbolic connotations, have long been the majestic muses of creatives since the dawn of human evolution. Their shift from literal depictions on cave walls to mythical, anecdotal, and religious icons further cements them as the go-to subject matter across all artistic disciplines.

Giorgio Persano is delighted to present a selection of important works by great contemporary masters in the spaces of the gallery’s inner garden: Robert Barry, Joseph Kosuth and Lawrence Weiner, who are among the main exponents and theorisers of conceptual art, and Julian Schnabel, the illustrious representative of the American neo-expressionist movement.
