Sotheby’s Dubai Unveils Marvels of Islamic Art

From 30 September to 4 October, Sotheby’s Dubai will play host to masterpieces of Islamic art, alongside canvases by the region’s leading modern and contemporary artists – in what is the first unveiling of this autumn’s auction highlights. Leading the charge is an exceptionally rare Islamic bronze aquamanile, a magnificent rendering of a buck from 8th century Iraq, which carries an estimate of £2 – 3 million in its first-ever auction appearance. The exhibition will be open to the public daily in the DIFC, following which the pieces will travel to London to be auctioned as part of Sotheby’s bi-annual Middle Eastern art week in New Bond Street.

As Monterey Car Week approaches, RM Sotheby’s unveils the final additions to an already star-studded field. Headlined by a 1964 Ferrari 250 LM, one of just 32 built, the car boasts period race history at Le Mans and benefits from a comprehensive restoration to original specifications by Ferrari Classiche (Estimate: $18,000,000 – $20,000,000).

RM Sotheby’s Incredible Carrera Collection Auctions Gross €15 Million

RM Sotheby’s has successfully concluded the sale of the remarkable Carrera Collection, offering 80 cars across two sales in Switzerland and Italy. The Swiss sale grossed an excellent CHF10,450,075, while Part 2, which was hosted in the Palazzo Serbelloni in central Milan, grossed €4,187,850. Both sales were conducted in front of busy auction rooms with significant additional participation over the telephones and online bidding. The sale, largely consisting of Porsches, further consolidates RM Sotheby’s reputation as the leading auction house for single-owner collections.
