British street artist Banksy created an artwork honoring health care workers that he donated to the University Hospital Southampton in the UK. “Game Changer” features a child playing with a nurse doll wearing a face mask and a cape, while Batman and Spider-Man appear discarded in a bin.
“Thanks for all you’re doing. I hope this brightens the place up a bit, even if it’s only black and white.” – reads the note that Banksy left for the hospital workers
According to The Independent, a spokeswoman for Banksy has confirmed that the artwork will be auctioned to raise money for NHS charities. It will also be available for public viewing once the lockdown guidelines are lifted.
We are happy to see artists around the world celebrating doctors, nurses and other health workers with their thought provoking art. You can see more art inspired by the coronavirus pandemic from artists worldwide and Italy in particular.
