In a celebration of all things green, eco-friendly and sustainable, the annual ‘Down To Earth’ festival returns to Jameel Arts Centre, Dubai’s contemporary art museum, for an extended full weekend programme on November 26 and 27, offering a range of entertaining activities for all ages. The festival is presented with long term Community Partner, Dubai Holding and Sustainability Partners: Bee’ah and Hawa Water.
Free and open to the public, the festival includes workshops, demonstrations and information stalls for children, teens and adults covering topics such as seed-sowing, composting, mini garden arranging, upcycling crafts and living sustainably. Spearheaded by the Assembly, a pop-up barter shop called Faire Trade invites visitors to bring their pre-loved items and trade them in.
Spanning across Jameel Arts Centre and the Park, this year’s festival features an expanded Green Bazaar, which offers a broad variety of indoor and outdoor plants, plus related eco-conscious and sustainability-aware gifts and products from local businesses, and a special festival-themed collection of design goods at Art Jameel Shop.
The Small Talk series, organised in collaboration with SOMA MATER, brings regional specialists centrestage to explore the cross-section of food and policy and impactful living, while the Grow and Tell Zone offers hands-on demonstrations around topics such as gardening, composting and beekeeping.
Enjoy the open air and creekside views with bites and refreshments from HERE-O, Salad Jar, Teible, The Ice Cream Shop and Veghana in the designated picnic areas across Jaddaf Waterfront Sculpture Park, UAE’s first open-air art park designed by waiwai design in collaboration with Dubai Holding.
