Dubai is set to welcome the renowned Photojournalist, Mobeen Ansari for his first Solo exhibition in the region, the show titled “Conversations through Centuries” will be displaying an exclusive collection of his remarkable photographs. On opening night, guests will get treated to a special book signing of his book “White in the Flag” – which is an intricate photographic documentation of the various of ethnic & religious communities living in Pakistan and true celebration of diversity. The show will open on 17th of September at Studio Seven Art Gallery in Business Bay from 7:00pm onwards and will be graced by the Consul General of Pakistan, Ahmed Amjad Ali as the Chief Guest on the opening night; the Dubai exhibition will run till the 28th of September.
In the emirate of Sharjah, Mobeen will be showcasing at Xposure, the international photography exhibition festival taking place from 19th till 22nd of September, here his exhibition is titled, “The Land We Came”, along with an exhibition of his photographs, there will be an opportunity for everyone to hear him speak about his passion for Photojournalism and his films ‘Hellhole”, which is a black and white short film, based on the life of a sanitation worker, and ‘Lady of the Emerald Scarf based on the life of Aziza, a carpet maker in Hunza will be screened during the 4 day festival.
He will be concluding his UAE tour with a two day exhibition at the capital, Abu Dhabi, hosted at Etihad Modern Art Gallery, the show is titled “Conversations through Centuries” starting on 30th of September till 1st of October; on opening night there will also be a book signing of his book “White in the Flag”.
“This month marks two years since my book White in the Flag was launched in Pakistan. Photographing and documenting was a journey that took seven years to compile in form of a book; I have been able to see, capture and evolve by interacting with the different communities (I prefer not to call them minorities), I have learnt more about my country and religion from these instances than I have from any other experiences. The fact that I have an opportunity to present this book in UAE on the Year of Tolerance is incredible as it gives me the chance to acknowledge religious communities and celebrate cultural diversity with the global village that is Dubai” says Mobeen Ansari
Mobeen Ansari is a multitalented Artist, from being a celebrated Photojournalist, to a thriving Author and an award winning Filmmaker; this one-man wonder is also a extraordinary speaker who often shares his own story of perseverance to inspire millions.
Even though, these exhibitions will be a first showcase of Mobeen’s work in the UAE; he is no stranger to the world stage, his works have been exhibited in Canada, China, Italy, India, Iraq, Pakistan, Qatar, United States and UK.
Dubai will be the starting point of Mobeen’s series of exhibitions and seminars in the region, followed by Xposure in Sharjah and concluding the solo exhibition at Eithad Modern Art Gallery in Abu Dhabi during his UAE tour in September 2019. All of the events are free to enter and open to the public.
