This July, the Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA) brings a new experience of a multi-role playing show ‘Two', along with the magnificent digital backgrounds.

Theatre of Digital Art (ToDA), the UAE’s first permanent digital art space, announces the premiere of its multimedia, multi-role playing show ‘Two,’ opening in Dubai at ToDA Souk Madinat Jumeirah on Thursday, July 8, 2021.

‘Two’ is one of celebrated playwright Jim Cartwright’s most poignant plays with ToDA’s digital set and immersive ambience bringing each character’s story to life with its inimitable style and interactive setting. Played brilliantly by the very talented Genette Harrison and the versatile Jonathan Siklos, the multi-role play skilfully dissects the 14 different characters, laying bare their frailties and fears, their foibles and fantasies for the audience.

A unique and immersive experience, the play will see the audience (restricted to no more than 200 per night) become part of the play as ‘customers’ in this unique location. The drama-comedy is a reflection of reality, mirrored by the characters including the regulars guests such as: Old Man, the controlling Roy and the compliant Lesley, and a handful of other, colorfully diverse set of individuals.

ToDA’s technical prowess adds deft touches to the production, turning it into a breath-taking digital show that combines the vision of the director with the two actors’ genius and first-class technology complemented by, visual effects and surround sound. The end-result is an ambitious and original piece of interactive theatre that is bound to make you laugh, cry and introspect throughout the 90-minute play.

Award Winning director and playwright and ToDA’s Artistic Director Vicki Galloway-Place, is excited to see her vision brought to life in the unique ToDA theatre. An experienced international director, Vicki is no stranger to the stage, however directing a well-known play with the additional digital considerations has been an exciting challenge, which provides the audience with a completely unique theatrical experience.

Vicki has been directing for over 20 years, having produced and directed plays in the UK, South Africa and the UAE, working alongside some of the most notable names in the business, training with the RSC and collaborating with Danny Boyle on The Children’s Monologues which was a life changing experience. Vicki’s aim as a director is to share stories in creative and unique ways, which has certainly been achieved with her latest performance at ToDA.

Genette Harrison, who plays all the female roles in the gripping comedy-drama that unfolds over one night in the pub, is an award-winning, UK-trained professional actress who calls Dubai her home. In 2019, she won the award of Best Actress for her role in the short film ‘Elpida’s World’. This year, she won Best Actress at The Junction 2021 awards ceremony, for her role in the dark comedy ‘The Shape of Things’, and was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

A lawyer by day, Siklos’ stage credits include the eponymous Danish prince in Hamlet, Jack Worthing in ‘The Importance of Being Earnest’, and Teddy in Harold Pinter’s ‘The Homecoming’. Jonathan won the Best Actor award at the Phoenix Shorts festival in Toronto for his role in the short movie ‘Famed’, which won Best Thriller/Suspense Film at the Cannes World Film Festival. He has been the chairman of Dubai Drama Group, the UAE’s oldest theatre company, for more than six years.
