Rome is truly a magical city that captivates visitors with its fascinating history, breathtaking art and impeccable dining. To make my latest trip to the Eternal City even more special, I headed to the elegant luxury restaurant Mirabelle located at the Hotel Splendide Royal, Rome. I indulged on a beautiful Roman sunset, while sampling Italian delicacies accompanied by live piano music, turning my visit into an unforgettable experience.

Hotel Splendide Royal, an oasis of luxury on the heart of Rome

For travelers who want to take in the sights and sounds of Rome, Hotel Splendide Royal – is a perfect choice. A 19th-century palace overlooking the Villa Borghese gardens, Hotel Splendide Royal makes you feel like you are living at a nobleman’s home. Thanks to its location, you can easily get to the popular touristic sites like the Spanish Steps, Villa Borgese, and Piazza del Popolo in just a few minutes.

The interior is made in Baroque style,  and lavishly decorated with marble floors, Murano glass chandeliers, gilt mirrors, oil paintings and a domed skylight in the lobby, everything here makes an immediate visual impact.

The restaurant offers Italian cuisine with the best seasonal and organic dishes.  Besides the spectacular view outside, you have an opportunity to view a live bakery inside. Bread, pasta, and pastries with unbelievable flavor will wait for you every morning and daytime. The restaurant focuses on organic and local produce and even has its own organic farm.

The delightful show here is run by the executive chef Stefano Marzetti. The Chef was born in Rome and inherited a love of cooking from his mother. He uses excellent raw materials of the season to offer his customers a fresh and genuine cuisine. The menu is a reflection of the chef’s perfectionist character and is a true triumph of gastronomic eclecticism that offers both local and international specialties. As he says the power of food is amazing, and the main goal of his work to please guests and give them a good reason to come back again. The history of the restaurant and regular guests could easily approve those words.

Spaghettoni pasta with smoked cream butter, tuna bottarga, basil and yuzu mousse.

Spaghetti pasta has a very delicate texture and taste and tuna bottarga perfectly balanced the dish. Pasta lovers will appreciate this sophisticated yet hearty dish.

Secondi. Mains

Pan fried seabass with porcini mushrooms, sautéed sweet potatoes and spicy chicory.

Seabass is always my first option when it comes to fish and I really loved the chef’s take on it by adding the flavourful porcini mushrooms, sweet potato and chicory to the platter. The fish fillet was tender and delicate and I indulged on every bite of it. It is a well balanced and healthy option for someone who loves to enjoy food while keeping in shape.

Pezzogna, or sea brim , combined with leafy escarole served in a stewed tomato sauce had a very homey feel to it. It was full of flavour and had a very delicate texture and the top quality ingredients guaranteed a success of this dish.
