Oblong Contemporary is showcasing works of Serero Pop Art for the Eternally Pop exhibition at their gallery in Dubai featuring the digital reworkings.

I believe that all of us, at least once in our life, have felt like Kings or Queens. We all wanted, at least for a day, to wear a crown and rule the world

Serero Pop Art

Oblong Contemporary presents the works of the Italian/French artist Serero Pop Art for a summer exhibition at their gallery in Dubai.

The exhibition brings digital reworkings, enriched through the use of resin, beads, sequins, sapphires, diamonds, rubies, acrylics and enamels.

The artist sheds new light on the renowned people of the past, but also the present, paying an homage to the role that these characters have played in our pop culture. Salvador Dalì, Frida Kahlo, Marylin Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Pablo Picasso, Brigitte Bardot, Batman, Elton John,  Freddie Mercury are just some of the figures chosen. By adding the particular element of the crown, her subjects become eternal Queens and Kings.

Of great critical  interest, is the series that the artist calls Flowers, with clear reference to Andy Warhol. Many have defined Serero’s works as real jewels of art. Unlike other forms of pop art, more or less known, Serero is capable of developing her own language.
